Rubber and Sponge Cord

Rubber & Sponge Cord

Rubber and sponge cord, often referred to as ‘rubber rope’ or ‘sponge rope’, provides a flexible sealing option when standard moulded O-rings are not suitable. AMG Sealing supplies a broad range of rubber cords made from EPDM, neoprene, nitrile, silicone, and Viton® ‘A’. Our typical rubber cord diameters span from 1mm to 40mm*, catering to industries such as automotive, aerospace, chemical, electrical, environmental, petrochemical, and food and pharmaceutical sectors. Bespoke diameters, coil lengths, rubber compounds, and scarf jointed vulcanised O-rings can be arranged on request.

Our closed cell sponge cords are available in neoprene and silicone, each offering unique advantages. These materials are significantly more compressible and flexible than conventional rubber cords, making them suitable for both internal and external sealing applications. Silicone sponge cords are commonly used for high-temperature sealing in ovens and doors, outdoor electrical seals, and food processing equipment. Neoprene sponge cords effectively prevent leakage of gases, liquids, and dust in machinery and serve as a reliable alternative to foam backer rods.

We also provide a variety of other materials and sizes tailored to your specific needs. For assistance in choosing the right cord for your application, please contact our technical sales team for expert guidance. Additionally, our chemical compatibility chart offers detailed information on material performance against various chemicals.
