RX Ring Type Joints
(also known as RX gaskets or API RX ring gaskets) supplied by AMG Sealing are precision-engineered metallic RTJ seals designed for high-pressure, pressure-energised flange connections. These specialised ring joints are used to fit standard R-type grooves, commonly found in oil & gas drilling, wellhead, and high-pressure pipeline systems.
Standard RX Ring Type Joints are designed for pressures up to
5,000 psi
and are
pressure-activated, meaning sealing performance increases as internal system pressure rises. Specialised options can withstand up to 15,000 psi.
The sealing mechanism works by ensuring the
outer sealing surface of the RX gasket makes initial contact with the flange. As internal pressure increases, the contact force between the gasket and flange also increases, improving the seal integrity. This pressure-energised design enhances sealing performance under dynamic and fluctuating operating conditions.
The RX profile generates high seating stress and improved energisation, making it particularly effective in applications exposed to
vibration, pressure surges, and mechanical shock loads, such as drilling and well intervention operations.
