Type HP (high-pressure) flange insulation kits
supplied by AMG Sealing are specially designed sealing and insulating solutions engineered for critical service applications. Providing a high-reliability barrier, these high-specification kits are suitable for raised-face (RF), flat-face (FF), and ring-type joint (RTJ) flanges across all pressure classes, up toANSI 2500#
andAPI 15,000 psi
services. Used globally, they deliver high-integrity sealing performance and excellent dielectric properties.
The gasket construction features high-strength, glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) laminate permanently bonded to a solid
SS316L stainless steel core. This composite design provides the structural strength of a traditional metallic gasket whilst maintaining electrical insulation between the flange faces, supporting cathodic protection systems and mitigating galvanic corrosion in dissimilar metal flanges.
Applications
Type HP isolation kits are widely used for offshore production platforms, high-pressure hydrocarbon pipelines, chemical processing plants, and wellhead isolation valves. They are built to withstand severe service conditions, including large bending moments, high vibrations, and harsh thermal or pressure cycling. The kits are highly resistant to corrosive environments, including those with high concentrations of CO2, H2S, and produced water.
Gasket Construction & Advanced Sealing Design
A key engineering advantage of the Type HP gasket is the integration of precision-machined, dovetail-shaped seal grooves. These grooves are cut directly through the GRE laminate and into the stainless steel core. This provides a stable base for the seal to seat into, effectively minimising potential leakage paths through the laminate.
Pressure-activated,
spring-energised PTFE internal face seals
are installed within these grooves to provide highly reliable sealing performance when correctly selected and installed. Additionally, the gasket is precisely sized to the flange bore, providing a smooth transition and helping minimise flow disturbances, flow-induced erosion, and flange face corrosion.
Insulation Kit Component Specifications
-
Glass-Reinforced Epoxy (GRE):
High-dielectric NEMA
G10
is supplied as standard for reliable ambient-to-medium temperatures. High-temperature
G11
laminate options are available for more thermally demanding configurations.
-
Insulating Sleeves & Washers:
High-strength GRE insulating sleeves (one per bolt) and robust 3mm-thick GRE insulating washers (two per bolt) ensure electrical isolation through the bolt holes and high torque cracking resistance.
-
Backup Washers:
Heavy-duty 3mm thick ZPS (Zinc Plated Steel) washers provide stable mechanical backing (two per bolt).
