PTFE Encapsulated O-Rings How to Measure and O-ring

PTFE encapsulated O-Rings offer the flexibility and sealing performance of rubber O-rings combined with the outstanding chemical resistance of Teflon® PTFE. These O-rings are typically made from Viton® or silicone rubber and feature a precision-moulded coating of Teflon FEP or PFA. This construction ensures dependable sealing in applications exposed to high friction or harsh chemicals. Our most commonly supplied FEP encapsulated O-rings provide excellent resistance to a broad spectrum of solvents and chemicals, except alkali metals, fluorine, and some halogenated compounds at elevated temperatures. Their low friction and minimal gas permeability make them suitable for challenging conditions. PTFE encapsulated O-rings also maintain good elastomeric memory. We also supply rigid Teflon® PTFE O-rings, which have a higher compression set.

  • Temperature Range (FEP Encapsulated O-Rings): -60°C to +205°C (short term up to 260°C).
  • Temperature Range (PFA Encapsulated O-Rings): -60°C to +260°C (short term up to 300°C).
  • Shore Hardness (Silicone): 85-90°A
  • Shore Hardness (Viton®): 90-95°A
  • Shore Hardness (Hollow Silicone): 75-80°A
